Kids are much more inclined to eat vegetables when they can dip them in something flavourful. “Ranch” flavour lands at the top of most kids’ list of preferred dips. Here’s a way to make your own and it’s so easy, you can let the kids do it themselves.
Makes 8 servings
Note: If you use an even larger bowl, your child can have fun whisking with abandon, because the dip will be more inclined to stay in the bowl).
Organic baby carrots, celery sticks, bell pepper strips, cold steamed broccoli or cauliflower, raw or lightly steamed organic green beans, cherry tomatoes, or other dipping vegetables
1/3 cup organic mayonnaise (low-fat okay)
2/3 cup low-fat organic buttermilk or unflavoured, unsweetened yogurt
2 teaspoons cider vinegar (preservative-free)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (or more to taste)
1. Place all dip ingredients in a medium bowl and whisk until smooth. Cover and chill until serving time. To serve, transfer to an attractive bowl and place it in the center of a plate, surrounded by vegetables for dipping.
